Cross party support at Broxtowe Borough Council against crossing closures.

Unanimous cross party support for my recommendation that Broxtowe Council responds to the Network Rail consultation asking for the crossings to remain open and improvements considered. Conservative leader Cllr Richard Jackson and the leaders of Labour and LibDems are going to sign the letter.

I gave a resume of the progress of the campaign so far and emphasized that all three crossings are important and vital in there own ways. I stressed that the Long Lane and Barratt Lane crossings are essential LEVEL routes OUT of the village for residents south of the railway line and especially if the road crossing is closed, and only the stepped bridge available. The road crossing is often closed for several minutes, and I have experienced a 20 minutes closure when the gates were not opened between trains. That issue has also being raised with Network Rail on a number of occasions.

If you haven’t responded to the consultation there is still time to do so; see Attenborough Crossings update below for details.
